Livestream Setup
On this page I will tell you about my streaming Setup.
My capture card is a AverTV CaptureHD H727 and it can capture through HDMI and Component. I am using HDMI from my Xbox 360, through a 2 way splitter and into the capture card.
Software wise, I use VHMultiCam, VLC Media Player and JTVLC. I stream video at 700 – 1200kbps with a resolution of 720 x 405, and audio is Stereo MP3 at 128kbps.
The PC I stream from is a Dell XPS 420, its a decent PC, has quite a few things I don’t like. For example, you cant use stereo mix because Dell have disabled it and there seems to be no way to enable it. But yeah.. it has 4GB of RAM, 2x 500GB of HDD space, an Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.33GHz and it is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Right… my internet connection, not great really. My ISP is Be Un Limited, I pay them for 24meg download and 2.5meg upload (The fastest you can get through ADSL2+). I obviously don’t get the speeds I pay for, but its just enough for me to stream at a decent quality without it lagging. Only time I see problems is when I try to play an online game and stream, the stream and the game both start to lag if I set the bitrate highish. You can see some of my speedtest results on my SpeedTest.net Speed Wave: Here (Feel free to join it). Also… if you are somebody high up at BT or Virgin Media reading this, FIBRE MY AREA!
A while ago, when I used to stream to using Flash Media Encoder, I made a video explaining how to broadcast with the CaptureHD, here it is:
